Kriterium Nr.1: Musik - "Bad Things" von Jace Everett. Großartiger Song. Passt perfekt.
Als ich das Opening das erste Mal sah, war in meinem Kopf nur ein riesengroßes Schild aus Neonleuchtbuchstaben: W.T.F.?!
Es zeigt keine einzige Szene aus der Serie selbst (außer vielleicht das Schild "God hates Fangs"), sondern eine ganze Reihe sonderbarer Szenenen, die erstmal so nicht zusammenzupassen scheinen, da sie nicht nur thematisch, sondern auch vom optischen Stil her, stark variieren, aber es bildet dann doch eine perfekte Einheit, die einen ganz wunderbar in die Atmosphäre der Serie führt. Und das sollte ja auch Sinn einer Titelsequenz sein. Ich bin bei weitem nicht immer in der richtigen Grundstimmung für True Blood, aber nach dem Opening absolut ^^
Hey, es ist sogar Emmy-prämiert und wurde 2010 von den Lesern des TV Guide auf Platz 5 der Top 10 Opening Credits gewählt. (davor Simpsons, Get Smart, Mary Tyler Moore, Hawaii Five-O, danach Big Bang Theory, Dexter, Brady Bunch, Mad Men, Sopranos)
"Conceptually, Digital Kitchen elected to construct the sequence around the idea of "the whore in the house of prayer" by intermingling contradictory images of sex, violence and religion and displaying them from the point of view of "a supernatural, predatory creature observing human beings from the shadows ..."
Digital Kitchen also wished to explore ideas of redemption and forgiveness, and thus arranged for the sequence to progress from morning to night and to culminate in a baptism
Digital Kitchen wanted to express how "religious fanaticism" and "sexual energy" could corrupt humans and make them animalistic.
