After my consecration as Diocesan Bishop, I began to work exclusively for the interest of the church in Liberia. October 1972 I had to leave Liberia as "Persona non grata".
Tolbert could not escape from the rivalry among Liberia’s leading families. The Tolbert-family being one of the largest in the country, he soon appointed relatives in important public positions. I could not agree to it. In the mid-1970s several Cabinet members belonged to the Tolbert-clan among whom the Minister of Finance, his brother. Another brother was President Pro-Tempore of the Senate, the Major of Monrovia was a cousin etc.
William R. Tolbert, Jr., an ordained Baptist pastor and former President of the Baptist World Alliance, was President Tubman’s modest (‘invisible’) Vice-President for nearly 20 years. He succeeded President Tubman (1944-1971) on July 23, 1971 after he had died in a London clinic. This was the end to a good time with president W.V.S.Tubman.

The oath of royal supremacy?

THE INTERNATIONAL FREE PROTESTANT EPISCOPAL CHURCH

To our Archbishops, Bishops, Clergy and Concerned Laity

The oath of royal supremacy proved too difficult a problem, however, and Samuel Seabury came to Scotland and was consecrated in Aberdeen on November 14th 1784, the first Anglican bishop to serve outside the British Isles. It was the beginning of the world-wide Anglican Communion of Churches.
The 39 Articles of Religion were accepted at the Synod of Laurencekirk in 1804 (but it was not until 1864 that a priest ordained by a Scottish bishop could hold office in England).
Under the leadership of Bishop Dr. Leon Checkemian, the Free Protestant Episcopal Church was under the pastoral care of the Archbishop of Dublin starting in 1890. Archbishop Plunket, Anglican Archbishop of Dublin, accepted metropolitan authority.
He received Checkemian into the Church of Ireland and on 4 November 1890 granted him a General License in his own diocese of...

Communion and cooperation in TIFPEC

THE NEW DEVELOPMENT IN MISSIONARY CONSECRATED LIFE
Communion and cooperation with the laity
In recent years, one of the fruits of the teaching on the Church as communion has been the growing awareness that her members can and must unite their efforts, with a view to cooperation and exchange of gifts, in order to participate more effectively in the Church's mission. This helps to give a clearer and more complete picture of the Church herself, while rendering more effective the response to the great challenges of our time, thanks to be combined contributions of the various gifts.
Contacts with the laity, in the case of monastic or contemplative Institutes, take the form of a relationship that is primarily spiritual, while for Institutes involved in works of the apostolate these contacts also translate into form of pastoral cooperation. Member of Secular Institutes, lay or clerical, relate to other members of the faithful at the...

CHARTA OECUMENICA

TIFPEC WORLDWIDE NETWORK -TWN

TIFPEC WORLDWIDE NETWORK – TWN -
How can we create a world that is just and sustainable? TheTifpec Worldwide Network (TWN) has been founded in the conviction that this is primarily a political and christian task, requiring fundamental transformation of our systems of democracy and governance. Our aim is to link people and organisations wishing to contribute to this transformation, and also to highlight initiatives and ideas that could help.
Our statement gives a formal outline of our aims.
People all over the world want social justice and sustainability. Instead we see increasing inequality, injustice and environmental degradation. What can be done?
An essential part of the answer lies with our systems of governance and democracy. If our current systems are incapable of promoting justice and sustainability, then we must change them.
TWN is a network of people and organisations asking questions:...

'Ecumenical Church Foundation World Missions' also recognizes the valuable ministry of national leaders and other ministers who serve within their home countries to advance the Kingdom of God. World Missions ( ECFWM ) exists to exalt Jesus Christ through evangelism, church planting, leadership development and other ministries of compassion for a flourishing international church. This is my vision and dream for 2005. ECFWM seeks to fulfil the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ to "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,..." (Matthew 28:19).
My purpose is to help (1) unchurched or nominal Christians to become committed disciples of Christ, and (2) non-Christian people to become Christians. For this reason we send missionary heads to preach the Gospel of Christ, to train national leaders, to...

TIFPEC, Die Stimme seines Herrn !

   TIFPEC, Die Stimme seines Herrn!
