Dear David Lynch,

Your plan of building the "Universität des unbesiegbaren Deutschland" in Berlin put me in great euphoria and happiness. How fantastic it would be, to have a man of your format in strong connection with my country ! Only hours later the sad news reached me, that the capital's administration forbid the construction only to save a forest. Damn those treefuckers ! So I started to ask myself, how this great project can be saved. And as the Chinese use the same word for "defeat" and "chance", I see a big chance in this terrible decision, a big chance for my hometown Chemnitz.

You must know, Chemnitz is a very nice little town. Of course the landscape around here is not as beautiful as the scenery of Twin Peaks, and we have no elephant man in the zoo, but at least here are living bums on the street, that look as ugly as the one in your "Mullholland Drive" (by the way, that scene scared the shit out of me !). Also the people of Chemnitz are very friendly. We're dancing and playing funny games all the time and we are open-minded to people, who tell us about a better life. But what is even more important for you, there is a great place where you can build your university, a big hole directly in the middle of Chemnitz called the "Conti-Loch". It is there for many, many years and our mayor would be doing everything for you, if you buy this hole and put a building in it. And don't fear that nobody will come to your school ! We have a lot of dumb nazis here, who will, after hearing the name of your university, happily paying their last shirt for joining your courses. Even my aunt will properly join, because she has a chronic tinitus and is currently looking for a meditation course.

So come to Chemnitz - the door to the Erz-Mountains and home of the Karl-Marx-Head, and bless us with the presence of your "Universität des unbesiegbaren Deutschland" ! You won't regret it !

P.S. If you have some money left, it would be very kind of you to build us (and for your own advantage as well) an airport too...

Kommt mir das nur so vor, oder schneit es dieses Jahr früher als sonst ? Zumindest habe ich den ersten Schneefall komplett verpasst. - ich schob irgendwann Abends die Gardinen zur Seite und da war er schon überall. Schade eigentlich, denn der erste Schnee ist ja schon etwas ganz besonderes, die Ouvertüre für die festlichen Dezember-Wochen sozusagen. Wenn Weihnachten ein Kinofilm wäre, der erste Schnee wäre der Moment, in dem das Licht ausgeht.
Als Kind habe ich mich immer sehr auf diesen speziellen Moment gefreut, und meine Mutter hat natürlich meine infantile Leichtgläubigkeit ausgenutzt, indem sie jedes Jahr darauf wartete, daß der Himmel voller Schnee hing, um mich dann daran zu erinnern, daß wenn man laut "Schneeflöckchen, Weißröckchen" singt, es zu schneien beginnt. Dann verließ sie den Raum, damit ich das "heimlich" in die Tat umsetzen konnte, und tatsächlich - kurze Zeit später schneite es auch schon. "Hast Du etwa Schneeflöckchen, Weißröckchen gesungen ?" fragte mich meine Mutter dann im gespielt strengen Ton und ich schüttelte natürlich den Kopf. "ICH doch nicht, sowas würde ICH doch NIE tun !".

Inzwischen weiß ich natürlich, daß ich von meiner Erzeugerin gar schändlich reingelegt wurde, und seit ich das weiß, hat es sich auch endgültig ausgeschneeflöckchend. Dafür habe ich inzwischen aber ein anderes Lied gefunden, das vielleicht keinen Schnee von Himmel fallen läßt, aber zumindest den perfekten Soundtrack dafür darstellt. Das Lied nennt sich Untitled 3, oder auch Samskeyti (Attachment) von Sigur Rós. Als ich dieses Stück vor sechs Jahren zum zweiten Mal hörte, da war sofort dieses Bild in meinem Kopf; am Fenster stehen, in den weißblauen Himmel schauen und gespannt darauf warten, daß die erste Schneeflocke am Fenster vorbeischwebt, was auch sogleich passiert, gefolgt von immer mehr und mehr Flocken, die schon bald die gesamte Landschaft bedecken. Passt perfekt !
Und vielleicht kann dieses Lied es sogar tatsächlich schneien lassen, denn rein zufällig ist doch vor ein paar Tagen eine neue EP von Sigur Rós erschienen, auf der sich Untitled 3 als Unplugged-Version befindet. Das wurde von den deutschen Fans rauf- und runtergespielt, und jetzt haben wir den Salat - Anfang November und überall Schnee. Und bevor die sich nicht an der Platte totgehört haben, wird das Wetter wahrscheinlich auch nicht besser werden. Also stopft die Löcher in Euren Pudelmützen, kauft noch ein weiteres Paar Ohrenschützer und genug Taschentücher für den Ernstfall ! So, wie das Wetter jetzt ist, so wird es auch noch einige Wochen lang bleiben...
