I'm seriously considering never watching CNN again.

This world is FUCKED up. As if this weren't bad enough....Family deported, 13-year-old left behind "The family was being deported after living here in the United States the past 15 years... The 13-year-old was the only family member not deported. They immediately applied for political asylum but were denied... Rosaleena is a U.S. citizen because she was born here after her family fled Armenia... The U.S. government will not pay for her plane ticket because she, unlike her parents and siblings is authorized to be here..."Sad enough story, but not that unusual, unfortunately. The really blood boiling detail that compelled me to write this entry? CNN, while reporting this story, ended the segment with "The local community is trying to raise money to buy a plane ticket to send [Rosaleena] home." Home? You fucking douche bags! Home, to that girl, is the country where she lived her entire life. Home for that family is the home the country where almost all their other children's lives were lived. HOME is fucking HERE. To call Armenia, the country that her parents fled for fear of their family's lives, a place she's never likely been, her home is completely absurd. She's sad because her family is leaving her alone! She's not sad because she can't go "home." The ever living fuck. I don't know why I even follow the news some times when I know it's going to be so ignorantly reported.

Long time no post

I have NOT been keeping this journal up at all. It's terrible. I blame the lack of comments and overabundance of life. Things are definitely very screwy right now. Here I am, nearly halfway into February, still looking for a job. It's really frustrating and a situation that's getting more desperate every day. I even had to sell my bass to have money to feed my pets. If I don't get a job very soon, something's going to have to give. Which is not to say that everything's been bad lately. My friends typically work during the day and have the night free, so I can work on the job search during the day and hang out with them at night. That keeps things from getting too dull, but it's still really depressing that I still have no source of income after this long. I've been hanging out with James, Leila and James's brother, Travis, quite a bit lately. We've been taking a lot of walks and watching a lot of movies. These are good things to do because they don't take money, hooray. It's been particularly funny watching James "walk" Chippy-the former uses the latter to pull him on his skateboard. Chippy, apparently, would make an excellent sled dog. Well, I'm off to clinic-but to be a patient! It's interesting to go to Palmer not as a student but as an alumni. ^_^

It's My Birthday!

So, I'm offically 26 now. It doesn't feel any different, heh. It's been a weird day. I overslept, my first patient was a no show, and when I got home I found the heat and internet not working. But I'm still smiling, and why? Well, I finally have all my adjustments, I only have one complicated case left (and one application pending, so cross your fingers!) and just a few more requirements otherwise. I'm very nearly done. Of course, I have only one half day to do it, but it's doable. Eeky.I can't actually imagine what it'll be like to be done. It's going to be a strange mix of obscene relief and that "what now?" feeling. It will be exhilarating and terrifying in almost equal measure, I must admit. Being DONE with school? That's unfathomable for me.Well, Sherri's calling and my cell's internet (which I am using to post this) doesn't work at the same time as the phone (funny how new technology actually makes us move backward sometimes isn't it?) so, this is it for now. Birthday wishes are best expressed by phone!

On the New Years

To me, the new year doesn't start until January fourth. That's the day that will be the first day of the rest of my year. It really sucks because my birthday is tomorrow, and I know that I won't want to celebrate it much really, until I'm sure. SURE. This sucks balls. All these damn half days and half weeks. It's fucking impossible to get shit done. I still have a lot to do and three measly half days to do it. I'm such an idiot. I wish I had gotten more done last week but... I really didn't neglect my time there, for the most part. I was really fucking busy-just didn't have as much time to work with as usual. Oh, yeah, I made it to and from West Virginia just fine over the weekend. It was a very short visit, and thus it was hard to leave after spending only two nights at home, but the main purpose of the trip was achieved. I have a new car. Okay, it's not new, yet certainly new to me. It's my mom's old 2000 Taurus. It's the same age as Nancy and almost as quirky, but with 50,000 miles less on it. I'm still kind of feeling it out to know it's gender and name. I'm thinking "dude" and perhaps "Sullivan" at this point, but we'll have to see if that sticks.Any way, my trip in brief:Friday:1. Had a patient at 8:30 Friday morning. Had patients all morning long. Had lunch with Leila at La Fiesta. 2. Packed the car and left here at 1:44 PM.3. Arrived at Cornelius, NC (just outside Charlotte) to stay the night at my cousin Chris's apartment 6.5 hours later. 4. Had a refreshing conversation with Chris and passed out watching Futurama. Saturday:1. Woke up at 8:15 and left Chris's by 8:30. 2. Arrived at my parents' house 5.25 hours later. 3. Jackson and DeeVa ran off on us almost immediately. Eventually, we got them back. 4. Passed out for three hours between arriving and dinner time.Mom made creamed hamburger for dinner. It was delicious. (It should be noted the Murdoc jumped in front of the computer screen to drink out of my water glass. I'm typing this now without being able to see what I'm doing. All mistakes should be forgiven.) 5. Picked Katrina up at her house, and she test drove the Malibu/Nancy. She wants to buy her now. We went to The Daily Grind, Robert's, and Ashley's. At Ashleys's, we made sure Daniel's Christmas present worked. Sunday:1. (PS-Murdoc's gone) Got up at 10 AM to shower and get ready for lunch at Carmona's-the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. And really, that's saying something. Ate there with the parents and my aunt Janet, her daughter, Kelley, and my cousin Lisa (not to be confused with my roommate.)2. Came home and got ready for the birthday-graduation dealie my mom decided to throw for me. 3. Got Katrina early for the party, so we could watch some Boosh before the guests arrived. Got sloshed with Katrina before the other guests even arrived. 4. Drunkenly acted the part of new doctor/party honoree with my mom's friends and my aunts Janet and Jane, uncle Bill, and most of my cousins from WV: Lisa, Chris, Bitsy, and Kelley. Only Ian and Tim were missing. Monday (New Year's Eve!):1. Got up at like 8:30 for no reason. Hung out with Mom, picked up my new car from the shop, packed and got ready. 2. Left for Daniel's at 3:15. Arrived 2.25 hours later. 3. Went out for dinner at this seafood place with Daniel.4. Had FAAAAR too much dessert at Daniel's afterward. And beforehand, too, for that matter. 5. Passed out at 10 PM. ON NEW YEAR'S EVE. Tuesday (New Years!):1. Got up at 9:45 to pick up Daniel at the hotel he spent the night at partying with his friends. 2. Hung out with him for a while at his apartment while he got ready for work, then dropped him off at work at 11 AM.3. Grabbed breakfast and drove home. Arrived 11.75 hours later. 4. Hung out with James and Cassie for a while before James passed out on the couch and I went to bed.Today:1. Woke up at 9:06 in order to use the ladies' room. Found James asleep on the couch still, even though at some point he had gotten up and swiped "his" blanket from his room. Weirdo. 2. Computer time. To Come:3. Clinic. 4. Clinic.5. Clinic. 6. Clinic. 7. Dessert?

Merry Christmas, Kiddies!

I know you're shocked and all-Elaine posting without pics? How droll! But hey, I'm at my cousins' place in Pembroke Pines, so I'm lucky to have computer time at all... haha. Such an internet addict. So, I'm down here in Broward county for the holidays-my first without my mom and dad. Wow, that's a major step in the growing up direction. I have a friend who thinks that no one actually wants to spend holidays with family, but I'm not like that. I love hanging out with my parents and little brother, so it's rough to be away from them. But, on the other hand, it has to happen eventually, and I'm going to get to see at least my parents next weekend, so it's sort of a gradual change. Anyway, I'm down here with my favorite cousins, Jenny and Angel, and we're all going to spend Christmas Eve at Jenny's sister-in-law's house, which is really cool. I tell you, my cousin definitely lucked the fuck out in the in-law department, haha. I'm going to get to drink wine (and possibly Stella, heh,) and eat Venezulan food. Not a bad way to spend the holiday. Then tomorrow, we're opening gifts and having dinner at Jenny and Angel's parents house. I actually have a nice haul under Aunt Joyce's tree (it feels like it's more hers than Uncle Larry's, haha.) I have a bunch of little surprises from my mom and dad, and presents from my cousins and aunt and uncle. It's the next best thing to being home. Today Jenny and I went out so she could run some errands around Pembroke Pines. It was insanity! There are so many people here. This is particularly funny because I'm trying to convince Jenny to come with me next weekend to West Virginia. Any of my friends on here from West Virginia that have been to south Florida (I think that Katrina might be the only one who fits these qualifications, other than my family,) would understand just how funny this is. It's the difference between Miami and Mars. ^_^Well, anyway, Merry Christmas, everyone. What are you doing for the holiday?

Allow me a soapbox moment:

[14:13] Elaine: society is contradictory to health[14:13] Elaine: fresh veggies, which should make up most of our diet, are like one tenth of a grocery store[14:14] Elaine: sugar and processed foods account for two thirds of the damned store[14:14] Manda: Absolutely.[14:14] Elaine: I know that it's sort of cliche at this point, but WE ARE NOT MEANT TO EAT GRAINS[14:14] Elaine: it's totally unnatural[14:14] Elaine: so is eating dairy products[14:14] Elaine: but I know this, I'd like to get off them, but I literally can not AFFORD to[14:15] Elaine: it's impossible to only eat grass-fed meat and vegetables on a middle and lower class budget[14:16] Manda: We've made it super expensive to eat healthy. [14:16] Elaine: And you know what? If every one in this country ate the amount of veggie the federal government recommends (which is less than you really ought to eat,) there literally would not be enough to go around[14:16] Elaine: THERE ARE NOT EVEN ENOUGH VEGGIES IN THIS COUNTRY TO FEED THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE THAT LIVE HERE[14:16] Elaine: it boogles the mindWe need to rise up as a nation and bitterly cry, "I'M HUNGRY AS FUCK AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!" /steps down

One Night Stan is better than your face!

Having a good time at Little Fish, Huge Pond in downtown Sanford. James and Jenny enjoyed the bar... hehe. Before the show, Jenny, Jesus, and I walked down to the new martini bar in downtown Sanford and had green apple martinis. ^_^ It was a GREAT show. Jenny and Chere posed so cutely for me afterward. Gote was soaked... heheAwww, Sam and his little brother. Sam and Patrick took a moment to act like fools for me.

Just because I love irony

Lynn Spears was all set to release her book full of tips on how to raise show business kids. This, already, is somewhat amusing, given how much of a train wreck her firstborn is. How does it get even more ironic? Mrs. Spears's 16 year old daughter just announced she's pregnant.Oops, she did it again. LOL
