Bombay Bombings

As most of you will have heard on the news by now, there were 7 bomb blasts on Bombay public trains yesterday. Fortunately I stay close to my work place so  don't have to travel by train. However, the city was obviously in quite a state yesterday and is still in shock today.

I wanna express my sympathies for those who lost their loved ones in the attacks and those who got injured.

Let's hope those idiots responsible for the attacks are brought to justice soon - one way or the other...

first floods, riots and the end of the world cup

hellooo again my dears,

last week i experienced my first flood - full monty with wading through thigh-high water, being soaked from head to toe and seein cars drown *g* all that in an amazing outfit of whiteness... anyhow, it was a loooot of fun though my dear collegue murad got slightly worried so i had to go home instead of shopping :(

on sunday, just in time for the world cup finals, there were riots in mumbai as people apparently had become too bored so i was advised not to go out - hence missed the finals... bummer!!! but at least i got to see the germany match on saturday in a veeeery cool place - and went to the beach again... :)

that's me for today, have to do some work now - still waiting for news from the home front...

hugs

something in the way...

...it rains here reminds me of scotland ;) however, monsoon is much more fun since it is warm rain! bad when you have to go back into a room with the ac on full blast though... so again, i'm having a cold... which is not that bad since i enjoy myself and the goooooood food anyhow ;) i have discovered this bakery in lokhandwala which makes the mooooost amazing cakes you have ever seen in your life!!! i have been dreaming of that place for the last week and hope i can go back tonight but judging by a text message sent by the commissioner there should be more rain hence floods... let's see... work is still great although my hindi does not seem to improve and no dictionaries with arabian spelling (instead of sanskrit) can be found... :( anyhow i still lover everybody around me - apart from the rikshaw wallas maybe who generally screw me over because i'm firangi (foreigner) - definitely need to learn some abuses... *g*

you guys take care and let me know how things are in all the other places of the world...

a week in a nutshell

sorry that i wasn't able 2 write earlier but cannot access blogigo from the computers in the office (for whatever reaseon...) and after i fixed the computer at work in ours of harsh misunderstandings between me and the machine, somebody actually managed 2 totally kill the poor thing... anyway, i have moved hotels in the meantime with a quick stop at a very nice old couple who had a spare room for me but unfortunately didn't have ac... strangely enough i can do without air conditioning thruout the day but when i am tryin 2 sleep while it's really hot, it just doesn't happen... aaaaanyways, moving on... the people at my office r sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nice n i'm convinced i'll learn loads there... especially since i don't hav 2 change my habbit of working u 2 deadlines ('here u hav this work which would usually require 10h work, please fix it in3h...") very breen.... *g* otherwise i love-hate bombay! it's such an amazing city which is on the one hand totally different but most thigs r actually quite the same... i mostly smile thuout the day at things that remind me of home :) however, here are 3 survival tips if u ever plan 2 venture 2 india: always pay the rikshaw driver 1rupee less than the meter says, never show interest in an item and as a foreigner always bargain the price 2 at least 50% of what they tell u.... the third thing is: don't worry if they stare at u in the streets - not many firangis (foreigners) in india and they usually never mean it in an offensive way - indian people r possibly the nicest i met so far (closely followed by the scottish who loose a place coz they always call u 'hen'...)

that's me from andheri east/mumbai for 2day - keep writing me, i'm always happy bout news from home...

big hugs from biiiig indiaXx
