That's exactly the meaning of a Buddha: one who is not; in the sense of an ego, one who is not. But as far as the supreme self is concerned, as the ultimate self is concerned, he is and you are not. The ego is a false idea, and it is needed because the real self is unknown.

You need not forget yourself to lose the ego -- in fact, that's how you have gained it. You need to remember yourself, not to forget but to remember. You have to become more aware and alert, you have to wake up. You have to see who you are, not what has been told to you -- that you are a woman, that you are a man, that you are a Hindu, a Christian, a white or a black -- not what has been told to you.

You will have to go inside your being to the very innermost core and see who you are. In that very seeing, in that very remembering, the ego disappears.When the light comes, the darkness disappears; when the real self is remembered, the unreal is no more needed. And it is not that you have to drop it: it is simply not found.

But we live in the ego, and in every possible way we go on finding new props for it. In every act we go on nourishing it -- even in those actions of which you are not the doer you go on claiming that you are doing it. People say, "I am breathing." Just look at the absurdity of it. If you are breathing then you will never die; death will come and stand in front of you and you will go on breathing. You may not oblige death; you may say, "I am not going to stop breathing."

You are not breathing; breathing is not your activity, it is not your doing -- it IS happening. You cannot breathe. If it stops, it stops. If the next breath is not going to come back, you will not be able to do anything. Breathing is a happening, but man has made it, or at least believes it to be, a doing.

You say, "I love." Even the expression 'love-making' is utter nonsense. You cannot love; you cannot not love. Love is a happening, not a doing.What can you do about love? Either it happens or it doesn't happen. If you try, then it will be something false, then it will not be love at all -- then it will only be acting.

If you are ordered to love a woman or a man, what are you going to do? You will go through empty gestures: you will hug and you will kiss and you will go through all the movements, and with no love at all. The whole thing will be mechanical! And that's what is going on, what goes on around the world.

I have read a story about a faraway mountain land where a community of blind people lived. Nobody was born blind, but there was a certain fly whose bite made the person immediately blind. Every child was born with eyes, but those flies were there all around. It was impossible to escape from those flies. All the older people, the adults, the mothers and fathers, could not do anything -- they were all blind. The whole community was blind.

The fly affected only a certain age-group, below five years of age. Five years is a long time for a child, and the fly was all around. Within those five years... any moment. In fact, within six months every child was blind; those flies were not waiting for five years.

For the first time, a stranger came into the community from faraway lands. He was an adventurer. Seeing from the hilltop thousands of blind people, he could not believe his own eyes. He felt immensely sorry for them. He forgot about his further exploration in the mountains and he remained with those people. He wanted to help them somehow. He wanted to find what had happened. It is acceptable that in thousands of people there may be one man blind -- that he knew -- but in thousands of people not a single man with eyes? -- it was a great challenge for him. He wanted to find out what was the matter, what had happened.

Soon he was able to find out that every child was born with eyes, and every child became blind within six months. He discovered the fly, too, which was a common fly. But while he was doing this research, why these poor people had all gone blind, he fell in love with a blind girl. She was immensely beautiful. He had seen beauty before, but this girl's beauty was a category in itself, incomparable. Although she was blind, she looked like a marble statue made not by any amateur, but by some Leonardo da Vinci.The girl was still unmarried. A great problem arose in the community, because never before had it happened that anybody from their community had married somebody, particularly a stranger -- and more emphatically, a man who is mad because he thinks he has eyes. But they were simple mountain people, they did not want to make these two young people miserable.

The community agreed that the man could marry the girl, but first he had to become blind. Then he would be one of them, no more a stranger. First he had to drop that madness that he had eyes -- who had ever heard about eyes? -- if he was not willing to drop that insane idea, then the marriage was not possible. He was not only a stranger, he was insane too. The man so loved the girl that he destroyed his eyes. In his life, for the first time, love became blind. For love he became blind.

Why could those people not accept that he had eyes? It was against the egos of the whole community. They were blind and he had eyes. He was somebody special, so either he was mad, imagining, hallucinating about eyes, or perhaps he had eyes. But then he could not be tolerated, allowed to continue to have eyes, because he would remain a stranger, an outsider, and the very idea that he had eyes made everyone feel inferior. The day he destroyed his eyes and said, "I have dropped that idea of being a man with eyes," there was great rejoicing, dancing, singing.

This is the situation. This is my situation. This is your situation.

Politicians love to bark at any excuse. Dogs love to bark; even in the dark night when there is no moon they bark. They were politicians in their past lives; they have become so accustomed to barking that they cannot forget it; it is a hangover. Or they may have been poets who praised the moon too much in their past lives and are now taking revenge -- with a vengeance.

You also have a dog inside you and sometimes you like to bark. Of course you bark like a human being, not like a dog, but when you bark something of the dog comes up in you.

You have been all the animals in the past, all kinds of animals in the past. That's the beauty of the theory of many, many millions of lives: that means you contain the whole universe -- the dogs, the lions, the horses, the donkeys. You contain all of them within you, and you can bring anybody to the surface. You can behave like a dog, and you do many times. You can behave like a donkey like an ass, and you do that many times! Watch all these animals within you -- they constitute your mind. And unless you get beyond them, unless you transcend them, you will not be truly a human being.

A human being is born only when all the animals, even the shadows of the animals within him disappear. And to be human is the beginning of being divine.

These are the three planes: the animal, the human, the divine. Ninety-nine point nine percent of people live on the animal level; only point one percent of people get to the second, the human, and only a few people out of millions reach the third. And that is the goal of being a taoist.

You have to be a Christ -- not Jesus but Christ. Jesus you cannot be, but Christ you can be. Christ is a quality. You have to be a Buddha -- not Gautam the Buddha. You cannot be Gautam; Gautam is a totally different individual. But you can be a Buddha. Buddha and Christ mean the same: it is a state of ultimate consciousness when one realizes oneness with the whole, when one feels "I have come home."

BEYOND A WHOLESOME DISCIPLINE, BE GENTLE WITH YOURSELF. YOU ARE A CHILD OF THE UNIVERSE NO LESS THAN THE TREES AND THE STARS; YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO BE HERE. AND WHETHER OR NOT IT IS CLEAR TO YOU, NO DOUBT THE UNIVERSE IS UNFOLDING AS IT SHOULD.

In the summer of 1849 Joseph Holland, Jacob Keddy and two other Nova Scotian fishermen were on South West Island, at the west side of the entrance to St. Margaret's Bay, when they saw something very large and long swimming on the surface of the water not far from land. They launched a boat and rowed out to see what it was, arriving within a short distance of it without being noticed. It looked like a huge snake, about sixty feet long and as thick as a barrel. "It was proportioned like an eel, i.e. tapering towards the extremities with no caudal fin perceptible, but one very high fin or row of spines, each of about an inch in diameter at the base, erected along its back, serving indeed as a dorsal fin, like the folding fin of Thymnus Vulgaris, or Albicore. This spinal erection seemed to occupy about one-third of its length, each end of it being about equidistant from the snake's extremities, and at a distance somewhat resembling, in size and appearance, the sail of a skiff. The animal's back was covered with scales about six inches long and three inches wide, extending in rows across the body, i.e. the longer diameter of scale being in the direction of the circumference of the body. The colour of the body was black. The men had no opportunity of seeing the belly, but what the Americans would call 'a smart chance' of becoming acquainted with the inside of it. For the creature, perceiving the boat, raised its head about ten feet above the water, turned towards it, and, opening its jaws, showed the inside of its mouth red in colour and well armed with teeth about three inches long shaped like those of a catfish. The men, now thinking it high time to terminate the interview, pulled vigorously for shore, followed for some distance by the snake, which at length gave up the chase and disappeared." This was not the last appearance of the monster in Nova Scotian waters. He was often seen in St. Margaret's Bay in the years following 1849, and the local fishermen even maintained that they had spotted two of them at or near the same time. The slight variations in the descriptions given by Holland, Wilson and others suggested that there might have been a pair, with the sexes differentiated by peculiarities of shape or colour. The skeptics - and there were many - argued that these 'sea- serpents' were either shoals of porpoises, basking sharks, whales or giant squids. For many years the existence of the giant squid or 'kraken' was as hotly debated as that of the sea-serpent, with scientists arguing that it was a sailor's myth. However, in 1861 a French corvette, the Alecton, encountered a giant squid in the South Atlantic, fired cannon-shots at it and tried to capture it. Then, between 1870 and 1877, at least a dozen specimens of these monsters were washed up or stranded on the shores of Newfoundland at various places. On October 26th, 1873, two fishermen in an open boat found one in shallow water in Conception Bay, on the north side of the Avalon Peninsula Newfoundland, and attacked it. The squid nearly overturned their boat and dragged them under; but they luckily escaped with their lives and part of one tentacle cut off with a hatchet-blow. They reported that the creature had a body ten feet long a head two feet long, and arms thirty-two feet long. Its total length was forty-four feet. After this, the 'kraken' was generally acknowledged to be fact, not fiction-and was used to explain away the still more elusive 'sea-serpent'.

Wenn "der Geist" ein universales Phänomen ist, das gemeinsam mit Materie und der Kraft als "Feldschwingung" existiert, dann stellt sich eigentlich fast zwangsläufig die Frage nach der Manifestation eines Schöpfergeistes, von dem aus das kosmische Werden und genauso gut der eigenständige, selbstbewusste Geist des Menschen interpretiert werden.

Es gibt einfach einen begriffsgeschichtlich gemeinsamen Ursprung vom physikalischen Feldbegriff und den theologischen Aussagen über das Wirken des Geistes Gottes in der Schöpfung...

"Wohin führst du mich?",
fragte die Marionette jenen, der sie an den Leinen hielt.

"Ich führe dich in eine andere Welt, in der du auf ewig glücklich und frei von allen Leinen sein wirst!"

"Wie kann ich dir glauben, wo doch du allein meine Wege lenkst?"

"Ich habe dich geschaffen und du sollst mein Spiel spielen! Gehorche, dann wird alles gut!"

"So gehöre ich dir und dein Wille sei meiner! Ich komme von dir, aber von wem kommst du?"

"Der Zweifel wird dein Verderben, dein Verstand ist zu klein!"

"Ich habe Angst vor solchem Denken und würde gerne dir glauben,
aber Glauben scheint Aberglauben! Sagst du mir den Unterschied?"

"Der ist fließend, es ist alles im Fluß!"

"Ich hoffe, du führst mich nicht zu Hades den Bach hinunter!"

"Wer glaubt, wird selig!"

"Ist Wissen gegen Glauben?"

"Wer weiß, dass er glaubt, braucht sonst nichts zu wissen!"

"Liebst du mich auch, wenn meine Leinen reißen?"

"Du wirst frei sein, aber du wirst mich vermissen!"

"Und der Weg wird mein Ziel sein und ich werde ihn selbst bestimmen!"

Die Erbsünde-Theorie war den Ur-Christen unbekannt. Sie wurde erst ca. 300 Jahre nach Christi Geburt von einem Bischof entwickelt. Nun mag man über diese Theorie denken, was man will, aber sie war es, die aus aus einer Religion des inneren Widerstandes gegenüber der allgegenwärtigen römischen Besatzungsmacht eine Religion für Untertanen gemacht hat. Und genau dies war auch der Grund, warum sich Herrschende dieser Religion dann bedienten......den Christen zunächst das Recht auf Religionsausübung einräumten und später dann das Christentum zur Staatsreligion machten und diese Religion verbreiteten.....und zwar mit dem Schwert. Denn anders als uns die Kirche und diverse Hollywood-Filme immer glauben machen wollen, war das Christentum keine Bewegung, die sich von unten nach oben entwickelte, sondern es war genau umgekehrt. Dennoch: Ohne die Erbsünde-Theorie wäre das Christentum, wie viele andere Religionen auch, in Bedeutungslosigkeit längst untergegangen. Das Christentum in seiner heutigen Bedeutung ist ohne die Erbsündetheorie nicht denkbar.

wollen wir ein Gottesbild in uns tragen, das auf Strafe und Belohnung, auf Schuld und Sühne aufgebaut ist? Ist es nicht höchste Zeit, dass wir diese Elemente, die der "Untertanisierung" der Gläubigen diente, ein für allemal ausmerzen? Und wäre dann die ganze Sache nicht ein ganzes Stück weit glaubhafter?
Oder glauben, die, die "glauben", wirklich, dass es für eine Religion unabdingbar ist, ein ewiges Leben zu versprechen? Dass es ihre wahre Daseinsberechtigung per definitionem ist?

Der Mensch ist nicht nur ein vernunftbegabtes Wesen und nicht alles kann man auf die Ratio stützen.

Aber ich möchte nochmal auf den Sündenfall zurückkommen. Man kann ihn natürlich so interpretieren, wie er immer interpretiert worden ist, nämlich als sexuelles Vergehen von Adam und Eva......oder man kann die Paradiesszene so lesen, wie sie geschrieben steht. Da heißt es nämlich, dass Adam und Eva und all ihre Nachkommen aus dem Paradies vertrieben werden, weil sie eine Frucht vom Baume der Erkenntnis über das, was gut und was böse ist, gegessen haben. Ich habe dies schon als Jugendlicher immer so verstanden, dass der Mensch dafür bestraft wird, dass er das Denken gelernt hat.....dafür also, das der Mensch zum Menschen wurde. Adam und Eva wurden aus dem Paradies vertrieben und mussten plötzlich gegen Unkraut ankämpfen. Der Affe, der "Gut und Böse" und "Nützlich und Unnütz" nicht unterscheiden kann, lebt weiterhin im Paradies, wohingegen der Mensch, der gelernt hat, nützliche Pflanzen für sich zu kultivieren, plötzlich auch dafür arbeiten muss. Nur der, für den bestimmte Pflanzen hinderlich sind, erkennt Unkraut überhaupt als solches. Und so gelesen, macht die Erbsünde-Theorie auch Sinn und man kann aus ihr eine Menge ableiten....auch Positives.

If you are really happy here, why should you be bothered about the other world? Your misery is absolutely needed for the other world to exist. It does not exist in itself; it exists in your misery, in your suffering, in your anguish.

All the religions have been doing that harm to you. They are creating more misery, more suffering, more wounds, more hatred, anger -- and all in the name of God, all in the name of beautiful words.

They talk about love and they destroy every possibility of your ever being in love.

They talk about peace and create every situation for war.

The strategy is very simple -- go on talking about beautiful things, keep people engaged in words, ideologies; and while they are engaged in words and ideologies, philosophies, go on cutting their roots from the soil, from the life energy.

And your life energy is rooted in your sex.

All the societies became aware of the fact that it is only sex that can stand against God. If your sex is fulfilled your don't need God, because your life is fulfilled. Then God is just Godot. But if your sex is destroyed, repressed, condemned, if you are made to feel guilty about it, then God can go on living forever. He derives His energy through your suicide.

Yes, sex-repressive societies have become civilized, cultured, richer, philosophical, scientific. They developed in all possible ways. Sex-expressive societies -- which are very few now; the aboriginals are poor, they are uncultured, uncivilized. They have not evolved the way sex-repressive societies have evolved.

This gave a great impetus to religious stupidity -- because religion could prove on a basis in reality, that the societies that have been sex-expressive have remained poor, starving, hungry. And the sex-repressive societies have evolved in every possible way.

The more sex repression, the higher becomes your cultural development. This became a proof for religions that sex repression is something absolutely needed; otherwise you will be simply barbarians. And in a way it is true, factually true.

Die Kunst der Postmoderne nährt jene Neurosen, die man gewöhnlich mit dem Wort "Ich" bezeichnet.

If God is not a hypothesis, if God is not an idea, then what is God?

It is not a hypothesis because there is no way for science to discover God. Science does not move inwards, it moves outwards, and there you will find the world of things.

If you want to know consciousness, that center is within.

So God is not a hypothesis.

God is not an idea because an idea is a philosophical concept, and philosophers only go on weaving thoughts, ideas, rationalizations -- and they create great systems of thought....

If you look into their systems of thought you will be immensely impressed. For example, Hegel or Kant... if you are not alert, you will be surprised at what a palatial system they have made -- but there is no base. And it is not a palatial building either; if you come closer you will find it is made of playing cards. A little breeze and the whole palace falls down, because there is no base to it.

Philosophy is baseless.

It makes castles in the air.

Ideas are just ideas. You can project any idea you like, nobody can prevent you; and once you project the idea you can find all kinds of rationalizations to support it. There is no difficulty.

Once you get an idea -- it may be the date thirteen, it doesn't matter -- you can make a great philosophy out of it.

God is not an idea, although philosophers have tried... because philosophers are trespassers; they simply don't believe that any territory is not their territory. They will enter into every direction, into every dimension, and they have some idea for everything. A philosopher never says, "I don't know." He knows! And not only does he know, but he will give you all the arguments and proofs that his knowledge is valid. So how can they leave out such an important area like God?

They have discovered four arguments for God. Christians have accepted those four arguments, but none of those four arguments has any validity. They are all bogus.

Im Mittelpunkt des chinesischen Denkens über die Natur steht die Vorstellung einer universellen Lebenskraft, auch Lebensenergie genannt, Qi auf chinesisch. Diese Lebenskraft, Grundlage allen Lebens, bildet die Basis der chinesischen Naturbeschreibung von der Antike bis zur Neuzeit.

Für die Chinesen ist Qi die allem Lebendigen innewohnende Lebenskraft der Natur. Qi ist Leben, ständig in Bewegung, fließend, Veränderungen hervorbringend. Jede Verlangsamung oder Stagnation des Fließens bedeutet Störung der Lebensvorgänge.

Das chinesische Konzept der Lebensenergie geht über die westlich physikalische Energievorstellung weit hinaus. Die Übersetzung von Qi als "Energie" ist wenig befriedigend, da unser Energiebegriff in erster Linie von der Physik geprägt ist. Der Atomphysiker David Bohm versteht die Lebensenergie als "Quantenpotential", d.h. als eine "höhere" Quantenqualität, die jeder Materie innewohnt und jenseits von Raum und Zeit existent ist. Diese abstrakt-physikalisch quantenmechanische Erklärung bringt uns dem biologisch-medizinischen Verständnis des Phänomens Qi nicht näher.

Für die Chinesen gibt es keine direkte Definition des Qi. Die ständig fließende und sich wandelnde Lebensenergie Qi kann nur umschrieben werden und ist aus ihren Wirkungen und Funktionen zu erfassen. Das kosmische Qi fließt nach chinesischer Auffassung überall in der Natur, z.B. im Wind oder im Wasser der Flüsse. Im menschlichen Körper sammelt sich Qi in den Organen, deren Funktionen sie hervorbringt. Die Lebensenergie Qi fließt auch in Bahnen, die die Oberfläche und die Peripherie des Körpers nähren und chinesisch Jing heißen. Jing bedeutet "durchfließen" oder "Kanal". Diese "Qi-Kanäle" wurden von den Europäern aufgrund ihrer polaren Anordnung im Körper mit dem Meridiansystem der Erde verglichen und folglich "Meridiane" genannt.

Die Lebensenergie kommt aus drei "Quellen" in den menschlichen Körper:

In die Lunge wird das Qi aus der Atemluft aufgenommen. Dieses Qi des Atems, Zong Qi, wird "Qi der Mitte" oder auch Yang-Qi genannt, weil es aus der Luft, von oben, vom Yang, kommt. Ähnliche Vorstellungen gibt es in der indischen ayurvedischen Medizin, wo dieses Atem-Qi Prana genannt wird.

Aus der Nahrung wird durch die Verdauung im Magen und Milz-Pankreas-System "Nähr-Qi" chinesisch Ying-Qi. Das Nähr-Qi wird im chinesischen Organsystem Milz-Pankreas aufgenommen und nach seiner Transformation im Körper verteilt, um die Organe, das Blut und die Gewebe zu ernähren. Das Nähr-Qi wird zur Yin-Polarität gezählt, da es aus der Erde, dem Yin, kommt.

Die dritte wichtige Quelle des Qi im Körper ist das "Erb-Qi", chinesisch Yuan Qi (Quell-Qi) genannt, die von den Eltern ererbte Lebenskraft. Dieses anzestrale Qi erhält man bei der Zeugung von beiden Eltern, es wird nach chinesischer Vorstellung im Nierensystem gespeichert und an die Nachkommen weitergegeben. Dieses "ererbte Qi" ist auch für das individuelle Wachstum und die Entwicklung des Menschen verantwortlich.

Ähnlich wie in der chinesischen Medizin gibt es auch in der indischen Heilkunde seit über 2000 Jahren die Vorstellung einer universellen Lebenskraft, Prana oder Kundalini genannt, die über den Atem aufgenommen wird, Funktionen im lebenden Körper hervorbringt und mit Hilfe von Atemübungen, Pranayama, beeinflußt werden kann. Das indische Yoga ist auf diesen Vorstellungen aufgebaut.

Auf ähnlichen Konzepten beruht auch die Medizin der Indios in Mittel- und Südamerika. In 97 Kulturen finden sich Vorstellungen einer dem Leben zugrundeliegenden Lebenskraft, die für die Lebensvorgänge und für die Entstehung von Krankheiten von Bedeutung ist.

Auch im Westen gab es bis vor ca. 100 Jahren, z.B. in der Medizin der Romantik, die Vorstellung einer Lebenskraft, die Christoph Wilhelm Hufeland in seinem Hauptwerk "Die Kunst, das menschliche Leben zu verlängern" beschreibt.

Für uns im Westen stellt sich die Frage, wie diese von den Chinesen bereits in der Antike beschriebene Lebenskraft, die im Mittelpunkt von Theorie und Praxis der chinesischen Medizin steht, heute zu verstehen und direkt zu erfahren ist. Durch die Qi Gong genannten Atem- und Meditationsübungen läßt das Qi sich erspüren, und zwar als Fließen im Körper oder als eine Art Ladung, z.B. in den Händen. Das Fühlen der Lebensenergie ist für sensible und bewußte Menschen auch im Westen leicht zu erlernen.

Weiterhin ist Qi mit Hilfe der Nadelung bei der Akupunkturtherapie direkt erfahrbar. So rufen das Legen der Nadeln und ihre manuelle Stimulation eine bestimmte Empfindung der Schwere, des Kribbelns, oder eine Art Elektrisierung hervor. Diese Wahrnehmungen werden von den Chinesen als Ausdruck der Bewegung des Qi gewertet und De Qi genannt.

Richtet der Patient seine Aufmerksamkeit auf einen erkrankten Körperbereich, z.B. einen Kopfschmerzbezirk, in dem einige Akupunkturnadeln liegen, so verspürt er oft ein Fließen in dieser Region, durch das die Schmerzen als Ausdruck der Blockade langsam abnehmen. Viele Patienten empfinden ein "Wegfließen" des Schmerzes. Durch das bewußte Fokussieren der Aufmerksamkeit auf diese Empfindungen wird das Fließen des Qi verstärkt und so der Heilungsprozeß beschleunigt.

In den vergangenen Jahren hat sich vor allem in Amerika aus traditionellen Heilsystemen eine neue Therapierichtung entwickelt, Energiemedizin genannt, die die verschiedenen Vorstellungen einer universellen Lebenskraft in den Mittelpunkt ihrer Diagnostik und Therapie stellt. Die Energiemedizin beruht im Wesentlichen auf dem direkten Umgang mit der Lebensenergie.

Durch Verfeinerung der Sensibilität und Entwicklung der Intuition gelingt es dem Therapeuten, Störungen der Energie, z.B. Energieblockaden, direkt wahrzunehmen. Parallel zum diagnostischen Auffinden von Energiestörungen ermöglichen neben der Akupunktur verschiedene bewußte "Energietherapiemethoden" das Transformieren bzw. das Auflösen der Störungen und damit das Wiederherstellen des harmonischen Fließens der Lebensenergie.
