The author is the only one that has given examples of how he classifies things according to the Tree (of Life) and given examples of his own trees. If you go through the book, you'll find many illustrations to help you see the different relations and applications of the Tree system.

The idea is for us to use the Tree to classify things for ourselves. This presents a way of using the Kabbalah as a whole that doesn't sound so mysterious that it leaves others out. It's not a beginner's book, but it's not so advanced that a beginner can't use it. It's not so simple that the advanced won't find it interesting.

The symbol on the left is Thor's Hammer.

The runes inscribed on it mean "Courage to seek the truth, Strength to stand alone, Wisdom to be taught by all experience."

The runes (a set of cyphers is sometimes called a rune) is called the "hammer of the gods" and only those who could follow its teaching perfectly might wield it. Those who could not, but nevertheless tried to seize its power in vanity, were crushed by it. It was said of Thor Odenson that this "hammer" always returned to him, its master... and was a "present" from the All Father. This suggests the vast differences between god/desses and men...but is none the less an ideal and inspiration for the rest of us.

I’ve noticed that with any learning process there are peaks and plateaus. What I do when I feel like I’m not making progress is concentrate on another area or subject and leave the one that’s peaked alone for awhile. Invariably when I come back to it I find that there is much more to learn and I now have the motivation to get back to it.

Anything worth succeeding at involves risk. You absolutely must take risks if you want to be the best you can be at anything.

Even when it makes me feel like a total jackass. At the very least I’ve probably learned something (like what not to do and any time you can learn something is a good time.

It’s important to not let failure get you down and put your mistakes into perspective. Use failure to grow and learn.

In any group dynamic micro-management can be one of the biggest hurdles to overcome. Trust is a hard thing to come by, even among people who know each other well, and an absence of trust can bring even the most successful people or teams down.

I find it’s important to find, understand and appreciate the passions of others. Everyone has them, and even though they might not mesh perfectly with your own, if you try hard enough you’ll find a way to leverage those passions to the benefit of all concerned.

Burnout is always a concern with any creative endeavor.

Hard work, creativity and embracing your passions can take quite a bit out of you. There are times when I find I need to blow off steam and there are times when I need to get away from work, or a project. I may have made my passion into a job, but even if at times I feel I live to work (I feel this is bad, and I’m trying to change this) there are times when you need to step away and just live.

I cheat. I miss a deadlines. Yep, I buck the system — take an extra break, play hooky for a round of golf when I should be working, jet the office early every now and again — things like that. It’s a good feeling to let life take precedence over work once in awhile!

In my whole life this has never once created a problem. It’s about balance, you could over do it, but every once in awhile some orchistrated disobedience is a very good thing.

Why do some antique sounds, such as steam locomotive whistles, remain widely missed while others go to the graveyard barely noticed?

Part of it is personal taste. "Noise for one person is hi-fi for someone else," said Steven Feld, a professor of anthropology and music at the University of New Mexico in Santa Fe.

Culture also plays a role.

Author Nick Harrison illustrates the point in "Promises to Keep," a book of spiritual meditations, with a story about a Native American and a native New Yorker walking through Manhattan.

When the American Indian says he hears a cricket amid the clamor of the city, the New Yorker snorts, "You're crazy."

But the Native American listens again, then crosses the street, digs into a planter and finds the insect. When the New Yorker expresses amazement, the Indian replies, "My ears are no different from yours. It simply depends on what you are listening to. Here, let me show you."

The American Indian then drops a fistful of coins onto the sidewalk and every head within a block turns around.

Although the story might be apocryphal, the point about people listening differently is accurate, Beaber said: "A lot of hearing is learned."

In India it was a tradition for every philosopher to travel all over India, challenging others. Challenge was not inimical. There is no enmity, both challengers are seekers. It is a friendly phenomenon, it is not a fight; they both want the truth to win. Neither of them is trying to win over the other. That is not the question at all.

That was happening all over the country. And such great intellectuals were born that even today we cannot find that quality, that sharpness -- for the simple reason that all the intellectuals have moved towards science. Philosophy is deserted. At that time, all those people were in the world of philosophy.

It is a fight but no longer a personal quarrel -- not a desire to prove oneself superior, but an inquiry to find the truth. The whole emphasis has changed: the victory of the true.... The famous dictum in Indian history of philosophy -- is: Satyameva jayate -- 'Truth should win, no matter who defeated'. It is not arising out of an inferiority complex but it is coming out of a really superior intelligence.

The tradition went to China, to Japan, and it spread to other fields also. That is why if you see two Japanese boxers or aikido fighters or jujitsu or judo fighters, you will be surprised -- first they bow down to each other with tremendous respect. There is no question of enmity.

This is one of the teachings of judo and all martial arts in Japan, that when you are fighting with somebody it is not a question of personal enmity. If it is personal you are already ready to be defeated because it is based in ego -- you are falling to the lower level.

In the art of judo, whosoever proves the art of judo superior is the winner, not the person; it is the art that wins. Just as in philosophy it is the truth that wins is now the art that wins. Not even for a single moment should you remember yourself and your victory because that will be the moment of your defeat.

And it has happened many times -- which nobody else can understand except one who has understood whole tradition of the Eastern way. Sometimes there are two equally non-egoistic fighters; then nobody wins. The fight continues for days, the end goes being postponed, but nobody wins. Every day they come and they bow down to each other -- with great joy, with great respect. In fact they are honored by the person because he is not an ordinary person; just to fight with him is honor enough.

And the fight continues. Finally the judges have to say "Nobody can win. Because both are equally egoless -- nobody can find the way to defeat the other." Ego is the loophole. Ego is a kind of sleep in which you can be defeated. Just for a moment a thought can come in, and that's the end of you. The art of judo, jujitsu, aikido -- they are all similar, with only little differences, subtleties, but the basic foundation is one. And the basic foundation is that when you are fighting, you should not be there but utterly absent; then no sword can cut you.

Im Gegensatz zum Titel, der diesen Eindruck erwecken könnte, handelt es sich nicht um ein religiöses Werk im herkömmlichen Sinn, sondern um:

Eine "Bibelstunde" der dritten, vierten ... auf jeden Fall aber - der anderen Art!

Mit dem vorliegenden Buch versucht der Autor auf "(populär)wissenschaftlicher", teilweise unorthodoxer, aber leichtverständlicher Basis zum Nachdenken über "Gott und die Welt" anzuregen ... genauer gesagt: über das "Woher" und "Wohin" der Menschheit - ihre Ursprünge, ihre Gegenwart und ihre Zukunft!

Zu diesem Zweck führt er einen (möglichst) objektiven Vergleich einiger Aussagen von Wissenschaft, Religion und "Esoterik", aus der Sicht eines (möglichst) unparteiischen Dritten, durch. Um das Ganze etwas aufzulockern wurden einige "praktische" Erläuterungen eingefügt. Auch wird ein wenig quer durch Wissenschaft, Philosophie und Politik "gepoltert".

Im Einzelnen wurden folgende Fragen näher untersucht, deren Beantwortung im Verlauf des gesamtes Buches aus unterschiedlichen Blickrichtungen in Angriff genommen wurde:

Gibt es außerirdisches Leben? Ist dieses intelligent?

Ist eine Datierung geschichtlicher Ereignisse anhand der biblischen Literatur möglich? Wenn ja: Welche Parallelen lassen sich auf wissenschaftlicher Ebene finden?

Ist es möglich und wahrscheinlich, dass der Gott der Bibel ein
lebendes, intelligentes, menschenähnliches, außerirdisches
Lebewesen ist/war, dass über hervorragende technisch-technologische Möglichkeiten verfügte?

Strebt der Orakelmeister oder Kenner des Yijings danach, durch das Erkennen des Wandels und der Spannungszustände der Natur und des Lebens allgemein in Einklang und Harmonie zu leben, so geht der Alchimist einen Schritt weiter: Er hat das Verlangen nach Evolution und innerer Entwicklung und verwandelt durch seine Praxis die Materie, die dem Zerfall unterlegen ist, langsam in Licht. Der Körper ist sein Medium.

In der Praxis sieht die Vermählung von Kan und Li so aus: Die Lichtperle des unteren Dantien wird beim fortgeschrittenen Adepten zu einer Art "innerem Schmelztiegel": Das Feuer wird durch die inneren Energiebahnen des Körpers tief in das untere Dantien geleitet und bildet den Ofen. Die Kräfte des Wassers werden zu einem kühlen Lichtball gebündelt und langsam über den Ofen hinaufgeführt. Die Kunst besteht nun darin, das Wasser nicht ins Feuer fallen zu lassen, sondern allmählich zu senken und über dem Feuer zu stoppen. Was dann passiert, bezeichnen die Daoisten als "inneren Geschlechtsverkehr". Es kommt zur Vermählung beider Kräfte. Die Sexualenergie, die einen großen Teil der kühlenden Wasserkräfte ausmacht, wird durch das innere Feuer in ihrer Qualität verfeinert und in kühlenden Dampf verwandelt. Dieser Dampf nährt den ganzen Organismus von innen her. Er wird vom Adepten bewusst und Schritt für Schritt in die einzelnen Organe, die Drüsen, die Meridiane, das Gehirn und die Lymphbahnen geleitet.

Ziel ist, dass nach Jahren der Praxis, wenn der innere Selbstreinigungsprozess abgeschlossen ist, aus der überschüssigen verfeinerten Energie ein geistiger Körper hervorgeht, der - separat vom physischen Körper - in der geistigen Welt reisen kann. Dieser "Lichtkörper" wird in der daoistischen Tradition auch als "Inneres Kind" bezeichnet. Damit wird der tiefere Sinn des "inneren Geschlechtsverkehrs" deutlich: Der fortgeschrittene Daoist lenkt seine Fortpflanzungsenergie nach innen und "befruchtet" sich selbst. Zusammen mit den Energien der Naturelemente formt sich eine neue innere Kraft, die zu geistigem Wachstum führt.

Die Bevölkerung, die von dem Phänomen des Chupacabra (spanisch für Ziegensauger) heimgesucht wird, ist von der Realität der Kreatur überzeugt. Zeugen sprechen von einem kleinen Wesen mit meist rot leuchtenden Augen, einem Stachelkranz vom Nacken bis zur Schwanzspitze und gewaltigen Klauen und Hinterläufen, die an einen Bock erinnern. Das bis zu 1,50 Meter kleine Wesen läuft auf zwei Beinen, kann gewaltige Distanzen im Sprung zurücklegen und angeblich sogar die Stacheln auf seinem Rücken ein- und ausfahren. Außerdem geben die Zeugen an, dass die Kreatur einen menschenähnlichen Schädel mit großen Mandelaugen habe. Der als leicht oval beschriebene Schädel mit seinen Augen erinnert Ufologen natürlich sogleich an die kleinen Grauen der UFO-Forschung.

Begegnungen mit dem Ziegensauger sind für die Zeugen immer Treffen der unheimlichsten Art. Der Mythos begann um 1995, doch bereits viele Jahre zuvor sprachen Einheimische auf der Insel von einem unheimlichen Dämon mit Namen Moca Vampir. Der Moca soll zwar niemals gesehen worden sein, doch seine angeblichen Taten waren die selben, die später dem Ziegensauger zugesprochen werden. Auch der Moca habe Kühen, Ziegen, Gänsen oder Enten in rätselhafter Art und Weise das Blut "ausgesaugt". Kein Wunder also, dass die Bevölkerung von einem Vampir spricht.

Der Chupacabra hat den selben Trieb wie der Moca; Berichte aus der Region um die Orte Morovuis und Orocovis sprachen 1995 von zahlreichen blutleer aufgefundenen Nutztieren.

You may be a great surgeon and you may have done thousands of surgeries, but when it comes to operating on your own wife your hands will start trembling. If it comes to operating on your own child you will have to call another surgeon. He may be not so expert as you, but still you will have to call somebody else -- because the surgeon needs to be completely aloof, not concerned. Only then can surgery be perfectly scientific.

The Tantrik is absolutely of the scientific attitude. He will find a woman or a man with whom he is not attached at all. And before he even moves into a Tantric relationship with somebody, months are needed to prepare. And the whole preparation is: how to avoid love, how not to fall into deep contact with the other person. Otherwise, the whole method will not be of any use.

The Baul is love-oriented. If sex comes into a Baul's life, it is just like a shadow. It is part of his love. He's not afraid of sex, but he is not sex-oriented. He loves a woman: because he loves the woman he wants to share all that he has, sexual energies included. But sex is not his lab; his lab is love, deep contact, care for the other person -- so much so that you become less important and the other becomes more important. That which is a hindrance on the path of the Tantrika is the path of the Baul. If sex comes, it is okay. If it doesn't come, that too is okay. Sex is not the goal. And he is not working on the crude energy of sex, he is working on the subtle energy of love. As the Tantrika is working on a seed, the Baul is working on the flower, the Bhakta or Sufi is working on the fragrance. They become more and more subtle.

Prayer is the highest form of sex energy, higher than love. It is the fragrance; very subtle, all grossness gone. The Bhakta or the Sufi works on prayer. If, following prayer, love enters, it is allowed. There is no problem about it. Even if, following love, sex enters, it is allowed -- but the whole attention is focused on prayer. So if a Bhakta falls in love with somebody, it is a form of prayer. The other is divine, the other is a god or goddess. He makes love sacred. The Baul is just in the middle of the Tantrika and the Bhakta or Sufi. He is a bridge.

There are difficulties with the Tantrika. The difficulty is: it is very gross, and the possibility is that you may be lost in that grossness. It may overpower you. Sex is tremendous energy, wild energy, very stormy, and you are moving in an ocean. The ocean is in deep storm, and you have a very small boat, and it is very dangerous. It is very easy to enter on the path of Tantra, it is very difficult to come out of it.
